Artifort at Masterly during Milan Design Week 2026
During this year’s Milan Design Week, Artifort made a bold and meaningful statement in the heart of Milan with its presentation at Masterly - the Dutch in Milano. Under the theme “Keep the Original Original”, the installation explored the enduring value of authenticity in design and reaffirmed Artifort’s commitment to timeless creation. At the centre of the presentation was an exclusive tribute to Kho Liang Ie, the visionary designer and former Art Director of Artifort in the 1960s. His legacy was brought to life through a carefully curated selection of designs that continue to define Artifort's identity and design philosophy.
A key highlight of the presentation was a distinctive Kho Liang Ie sofa, shown in a deliberately contrasting condition: one side in a well-used state, the other carefully reupholstered. This powerful gesture visualised the potential of reupholstery as a meaningful alternative to replacement, demonstrating how restoration can honour original design while extending its life for contemporary use. By placing craftsmanship and design history in dialogue with today’s aesthetic and environmental ambitions, Artifort offered a vibrant and layered perspective on longevity in design. The presentation at Masterly became a meeting point between past and present, celebrating continuity, respect for original design intent and the quiet power of enduring forms.
