Artifort through the eyes of interior bloggers

To demonstrate how pieces of furniture are really made, Artifort invited well-known interior bloggers for a peek behind the scenes. The writers behind Zilverblauw, Ohmariemag, &Suus, Vosgesparis, and The Nice Stuff Collector all put on their safety goggles for a tour of the factory in Schijndel. Here they discovered the craftsmanship with which the moulds are padded with foam, bases are welded, and the furniture is assembled. In Lanaken, they visited the upholstering unit where the fabrics are cut and the furniture comes to life thanks to the colourful upholstery. Read the blogs and follow the Instagram accounts to see Artifort through the eyes of a blogger.

Zilverblauw

‘I loved how classic designs were returned to the original upholsterer after many years of use by their owners or even their heirs, to be reupholstered. These are chairs, some of which are decades old with old-fashioned check pattern fabric, that are still just as valuable today because of their iconic design. Chairs, which after being reupholstered, are good to last another few decades. In my opinion this is what defines a strong design: if it remains contemporary and interesting after so many years.’

Oh Marie!

‘It's great to see that a brand remains loyal to values such as craftsmanship, comfort, and signature design and remains successful with this formula to this very day. In a time where everything seems to be about buying and consuming, and discount shops such as Action flourish, this is an encouraging sign. You don't buy a piece of Artifort furniture just to get rid of it again after ten years. After all, the design and quality literally have eternal lasting power. This is demonstrated by Artifort itself having existed for 125 years.’

&Suus

‘Artifort is famous for its contemporary shapes and use of colours. The striking contrast between the factory space and the colours, fabrics, and materials inspired me to take endless photographs. Drawers with thousands of zips, threads, and rolls of fabric in all colours imaginable.’

Vosgesparis

‘I visited several factories in different countries. What I thought was really great was the palpable passion of the people creating the furniture for their new, future owners. Each employee has their own task and the love and passion for the product is reflected in the craftsmanship.’
