In the series Meet the Artifans, Artifort visits design lovers who share a special connection with their Artifort furniture. The series highlights how these designs are not only functional but also carry stories, evoke memories, and connect generations. This time, Artifort visited Bea – for whom the Artifort Tulip F545 by Pierre Paulin is more than just a chair.


Bea: "Caught in the act! Reading in my all-time favorite chair. I am pretty sure I am one of the biggest Artifort fans! Not for the full 135 years ;-) but surely since I was 2 years old. From that age me and a girlfriend must have turned hundred thousands of circles and had lots of fun in probably a F545 at her grandmother’s place. From that moment I was pretty sure such an amazing chair definitely should be mine when I am grown up."

Which Artifort Tulip chair has been on your wish list ever since?

Bea: "The Tulip F545 by Pierre Paulin of course. That joy and comfort left a lasting impression. In my imagination, always in my favourite colour: purple."


Why didn't you buy one right away?

"A brand-new design classic was out of my budget, so I spent years searching online for a secondhand piece. About ten years ago, I finally bumped into MY Big Tulip chair: upholstered in pale orange and in poor condition. She took my breath away and my heart started beating faster. It was love at first sight. This chair was destined to be mine."


What did you do with the lounge chair after that?

"I gave the Tulip F545 a full make-over and reupholstered her in a high-quality fabric by Kvadrat in my favourite colour purple. Since then, the chair is my favourite spot in the house and the eye-catcher in my interior. Not a day has passed without me sitting and reading, reclining and watching TV, or simply spin around in my beloved comfortable Tulip F545."
