Veneer is a natural product. It imparts a warm, natural look to your table or cupboard. Veneer has therefore all the properties of wood. Depending on the sort of wood, the finish may be harder or softer. There may also be a variety of grain and colour in the same sort of wood. If the finish is to be reordered, the colour and grain may differ.
In the course of time, a veneer finish can develop a used look. Sunlight will change the colour of the veneer. And small scratches will result from use. This is inherent in the material and contributes to its charm. Veneer is very sensible for heat, so be carefull with hot fluids and always use a coaster when serving hot drinks.
To keep your favorite Artifort design beautiful for as long as possible, we recommend that you regularly wipe the table top with an almost dry cloth. We therefore advise against cleaning it daily with water and mild detergents. A maximum of once every two to four weeks is sufficient. In addition, do not use more than the prescribed dosage of the cleaning agent. Also pay attention to what cleaning agents you use. Avoid harsh cleaning agents and chemicals, such as chlorine and white spirit. When these substances come into contact with the treated surface, very difficult to remove stains will occur. Wet, hot or cold objects should never be placed directly on the table as this can cause irreparable damage, such as circles. It is therefore recommended to always use coasters.
The oil used by Artifort (Rubio Monocoat) creates a molecular connection to the base material, resulting in excellent durability and wear-resistance. If desired, you can make use of the set ‘Monocoat Onderhoudspakket Meubels’. Available through monocoatwebshop.
Artifort designs with the oil finish 'Intense black O6' contain a hard wax oil. The wear-resistant matte hard wax requires standard maintenance. Using a damp cloth with mild detergents is sufficient. Scratches on the table top cannot be removed manually. A new wax layer must be applied. We recommend contacting your Artifort partner.
Maintenance painted parts/table-tops
Artifort uses multiple layers of paint for a durable finish. However, a paint coating is durable but not scratch-resistant. Through use, a painted tabletop will acquire miniscule scratches that give it a ‘lived in’ look. This is part of choosing a painted table top. Lacquered furniture is easy to maintain. Treat fatty stains with a damp cloth in combination with an undiluted detergent. Then wipe it dry with a cloth dampened with clean water. Pay attention to what cleaning agents you use. Avoid harsh cleaning agents and chemicals, such as chlorine and white spirit. When these substances come into contact with the treated surface, very difficult to remove stains will occur.
